Who Are We?

Job Description

Laboratory

The successful candidate will join Ines Drinnenberg's team affiliated to the “Nuclear Dynamics” Unit at Institut Curie.

The Institut Curie is a highly vibrant research center, offering an international and multidisciplinary research environment in central Paris, and offers access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Centromeres and kinetochores are essential for cell division across eukaryotes, yet their organisation and composition varies among species. The host lab studies this evolutionary diversity using lepidoptera as model system that lack the otherwise essential centromeric marker protein CENP-A. Using this model the team recently identified a new mechanism of centromere specification in these species. Furthermore, using proteomic and remote homology predictions the team has uncovered a diversity of kinetochore components despite the absence of CENP-A.

The project

The candidate will investigate the composition and connectivity of the lepidopteran kinetochore complexes using proteomic analyses and investigate the evolution of centromere and genome organisation across holocentric insects using genomic approaches. For this the candidates will also benefit from the state-of-the-art technological platforms at Curie to accomplish her/his work.
